Is there such a thing as true rgb or is that just what people call rgb these days to make sound better?

Perhaps this is a SCART question. The SCART plug contains both the RGB signal and the far crappier composite signal. Crappy SCART leads do not wire up the RGB pins, just the composite one. Some devices don't include RGB in their SCART plugs either, such as videos.
When people say "true RGB" what they mean is that you're actually getting the RGB signal, that the SCART socket is fully wired.

I believe a true 'RBG' plug has 9 pins terminated. These being the colours + grounds, horizontal and vertical sync, pin 8 switching signal and 21 ground.



But surely anything different to what you have mentioned is not rgb? :confused:
Its just that people say rgb, and also true rgb and I was wondering if there was any difference.



Perhaps the confusion is a result of fully wire plugs and RGB only which carries no audio signal.
