Sony KV32FQ80 vs KV32FX68 ?
Question:

I'm replacing my current KV32FX60 Sony w/s TV and have the choice of a KV32FQ80 or KV32FX68. Having looked at the specs on the Sony site the FQ80 appears to be the superior model.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experience of either of these models that may sway my decision?
Also, anyone know what the AABB refers to in "100Hz (AABB)" as listed at:
Sony Website (http://products.sony.co.uk/productdetail.asp?id=2_1_2414#)
Thanks.

There is also the FQ70 to consider which sits between the two.
AABB = plain 100Hz found on the FX68
ABAB = 100Hz Digital Plus (better, theoretically) found on the FQ70
There is also Advanced 100Hz Digital Plus found on the FQ80 alongside DRC-MF which improves line resolution. The FX68 is the base 100Hz model in the Sony range. The FQ80 is the top 32" model and also has things like 4 SCARTS, Memory Stick capability etc, plus a nicer case (similar to the FX68). Both the FQ70 and 80 have additional features like Vertical Picture Stabiliser.
I bought an FX68 a few weeks ago and my second set is about to go back. Both sets have ghosting on all sources - not awful, but once you've seen it you always see it. I have an FQ70 arriving next week instead as the three sets I've seen don't have the ghosting apparent with the FX68. It's a shame because in other areas the FX68 is a great set. If you got one that didn't have the ghosting it would be just about perfect. Note that the FX68 is theoretically a backward step from your FX60 which has Advanced 100Hz Digital Plus. I went from a 28FX60 mainly for screen size and the FX68 picture is at least as good but without the additional processing features of the FX60. The FQ70 is nearer to the FX60.
The FX68 can be had for £700 online, the FQ70 around £900 and the FQ80 quite a bit more at around £1300. The FQ80 was too rich for my budget. If money isn't an issue then it would have to be the FQ80.

Thanks for the detailed response Radiohead. I'm getting my KV32FX60 replaced under guarantee so I shall go for the KV32FQ80 now that I know about the additional 100Hz features that the FX68 lacks.
