Sony KV32FX68 Service Menu?
Question:

The one for the FX60/65 doesn't seem to work on the FX68.
Any ideas would help.
The normal menus seem more basic than the 65 that I had (can't find options to modify 100hz etc).
Cheers!

If you look on that page there is also a PAL set-up link.
I don't know if the codes work as I'm not a Sony owner.

AFAIK the FX68 is simply 100Hz and does not offer advanced or advanced plus as with the FX66 - the model wasn't a replacement for the FX66.
That said, I have various options on my 28FX60 relating to 100Hz and I've only ever used the basic version - the others provide far more smear IMO.
I'm taking delivery of an FX68 myself on Monday - how is the picture - those that I've seen in stores are pretty impressive with RGB images such as DVD and Sky.....

Answers:

The picture is superb really. No problems whatsoever with convergence etc. Nice sharp and precise picture.
It's just the 100Hz thing at the mo - my FX65 had the option to modify the settings and you could always see a difference when switching between the modes.
I was watching Deuce Bigalow last night and I noticed an odd picture movement where it looked like frames were missing from the sequence.
Anyway, now I know the 100hz can't be altered, that's something - at least I'm not going mad and simply can't find it!

Is it just on the one DVD - could be a poorly encoded disc?
Ta for the comments about the picture though - a bargain for £700.

I am hoping to get one in a couple of weeks as well, definitely recommended then chaps?

Who did you order it from Radiohead if you don't mind me asking? Gonna get one next week when I move to a new flat.

No worries mate - I got John Lewis Reading (handily enough for you) to price match www.krishav.co.uk (they have a shop so JL will price-match them). JL want £995 (inc stand) and Krish have it for £699 (without the stand) or £799 (with stand). JL won't sell it without the stand. When they rang Krish they didn't ask about the stand though, and just assumed the price was inc. stand - so they sold it to me for £739 (adding on the £40 Krish would have charged for delivery to Basingstoke). That includes the normal JL 5 year warranty.
That is what I call a bargain.
If you get JL to price-match then I wouldn't even question them about the stand - all being well you should also be able to get it for £739 all in.

Mail me if you need any more details - I did it all over the phone though. Much easier that way!

Yep, got mine from Krish.
No english manual this time but I'm pretty much fluent in German so I've been ok!
The Menus are so simple anyway, hardly takes a genius. Just bear in mind that after selecting English as you language, you only have the option of Ireland as a vaguely relevant Country!

Another Sony tweak site that's useful...

Yeah that's the site I used originally.
The 'hack' for the 60/65 just doesn't work on the 68.

well - mine has arrived and it appears to be a good 'un. Spot on geometry, no buzzingm, no scrolling lines and a fantastic picture. The hop up to a 32" from a 28" is well worth the money.

I just found a service manual for my ageing KV-WS201SU on www.cyber-ro.ro
I had to register, but it's free, and has an abundance of Sony service manuals to download in PDF format.
May be a useful resource for others...
I had never used the RGB socket on it beforehand since the colour balance was waaaaay off, colours were over saturated and the general picture level was extremely dark...of course, the colour control on the regular menu is diabled for RGB :(
After acquring the service manual however, I've been tweaking the RGB levels and have also altered the geometry so it doesn't overscan as much with DVD input, and it looks better than ever....

Hi Radiohead, just wanted to say thanks again, rang JL over the weekend and they pricematched Krish so one is on its way over on Monday. How were the delivery peeps? Am a bit worried as JL is closed on Monday in case there are any probs.
Thanks again and glad you are enjoying your new purchase! ;)

Excellent news Tob. The delivery people were excellent. My wife was at home and rather than just dumping it in the hall they took it right to where she wanted it. The box was completely unmarked and undamaged and they handled everything really carefully.
Enjoy the new set!

Thanks for the info, that's good news, will look forward to receiving it! I will probably be back in this thread for advice next week...:)

It took me all of 20 minutes to set it up. Auto-tune, set the contrast, sharpness and brightness levels (contrast at around 40%, brightness around 55%, sharpness around 35%) - Digibox into AV1 via RGB, DVD into AV2 via RGB and Amp into AV3 via S-Video.
Job done.
