Question:
This is a long one for me :)
I have a tosh 32inch tv, the other week i noticed the top 2-3 inches of the picture pulling to the right. I got onto unbeatable who got a local company out to repair it. They took the tv away, brought it back 4 days later and the problem was worse. The repairman said it was set wrong in the first place and they had set it to toshibas settings. I asked him if the picture looked right and he agreed that it was miles out, straight lines now vary from top to bottom by 3 inches.
Phoned unbeatable while the repair bloke was here and they said it had to go back to the company who had just repaired it, to which i replied that the repairman was still here and he said they can't do anything about it.Unbeatable are sticking to there guns and making the company pick it up on Monday.
What i want to know is how many times are they going to try to repair it before they give up?
How long have you had the set? Is it under warranty? There was a thread a bit like this on avforums a little while that involved a Toshiba TV. I think the outcome was that the onus is with the supplier to get it repaired. If they can't, they have to replace it - all as long as it is under warranty.
I had a similar with my Panasonic. I got hold of the service menu settings and a copy of avia and did it myself. Now perfect...
Still under warranty, only bought it in March.
I just did a search there and couldn't find it - probably got cleared out in one of Spectre's spring cleans.
Might be well worth your while posting it over there you know...though I am 99.9% sure the outcome was that is is the suppliers problem to get it fixed. Something to do with not having provided you with an item that "dosen't do what it says on the tin", so to speak.
Just found this (http://www.consumer.gov.uk/consumer_web/e-shopping.htm#5) in a quick search. Maybe if you looked over the sites they point to, you might find something. It does actually say here it's the suppliers responsability...
have you tried getting into the service menu and having a go at it yourself?? because thats what i did with a few of my sets and theregeometry was as good as it will get on a CRT. also if you do write down all your settings before you mess around mate
I have no idea how to get into the service menu or i would have a go.
The tv is a tosh 32z23b
Not for your model but see if this gets you into the service menu,
remember note down the values before messsing

Good luck :)

Had a go at it but i can't get the picture right, from what i have found on the net it is a problem with the tv.
Phoned Unbeatable up and they are saying it has to go for repair three times before they will refund me or replace the tv, that can't be right.
Still waiting for someone to come out

That sounds about right. However, you could get it taken away 3 times in as many weeks - just ring them as soon as it comes back and tell them it's still knackered.
Did you use a set up disc - avia or similar - to set it up or did you do it "by eye". Guarantee you'll get better results using avia...
Apparently the engineer who first came out says the tv is set to toshiba spec and they can't do any more with it,unbeatable are fobbing me off with a company called dk audio who are trying to get a company out who don't want to come out as they say nothing more can be done with it and they won't get paid if they do come out.
So all thats happening at the moment is everyone seems to be passing the buck and nobody is prepared to come and sort it out. To say i'm a bit p'd off with them is an understatement

If you get that in writing, then unbeatable will have to change the set IMO.
Have a lookie here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/guides_to/howtocomplain/) . You might pick something up...remember, the customer IS always right, despite what the retailer thinks.
Correct me if I'm wrong but after you first contacted Unbeatable regarding the fault and them arranging for an engineer to inspect it, you are within your rights to refuse a repair within the manufacturers guarantee and take a replacement/refund.
Cheekster.
Dunno about that shaz but if they don't get someone out to me by Tuesday i will be asking for a refund or replacement.

What's the odds you bought just a few days before this came into force??
No good to me, bought mid March :(
Very poor behaviour from Unbeatable IMO.
A set bought new in March should be replaced if it fails this soon in, no questions asked.
Still waiting for someone from Unbeatable to tell me whats going on, time for a nasty phone call tomorrow as i'm sick of being nice and getting nowhere.
The latest news is unbeatable have stopped trying to repair the tv and I have had to phone Toshiba up who are "hopefully" going to send someone out to repair it.
They should replace it - you've given them reasonable opportunity to repair it and it hasn't been fixed.
Reject that offer. Phone Unbeatable and tell them that unless they refund or replace you're issuing Small Claims action. Then, if they don't play ball, issue the proceedings.
Toshiba are sending someone out to have a look, they reckon unbeatables muppets set it wrong.
hope he fixes it
He didn't :oh-hum:
Unbeatable are finally saying they will refund or replace my tosh 32z23b i need to find another tv to replace it, any recommendations would be good.
