Question:
Can someone help me please. Picked one of these up second hand. Everything is fine except for trying to get the remote to operate my Philips TV.
No instruction manual so can anyone tell me what the key sequence is for the remote and what the Philips codes are.

That is a VHS recorder isn't it???
Think mine might also be that model, but not sure.
If it is, then I pretty sure you can only use the video remote for TV and video if both are Sony.

It can definately run other TV's other than Sony models. The Nottingham Sony Centre confirmed this but then said they could not give out the key sequence or the codes and that I "must" buy a new user guide.......
AFAIK the remote for this model is not programmable for other tellies. There is usually a switch at the top of the remote so you can operate most functions on Sony tellies.

It DEFINATELY can do other TV's. It is/was advertised as a multi-brand remote control and Sony Centre Nottingham confirm this. Possibly I am not making myself clear.
All I want to do it turn my Philips TV on/off, Volume up/down and change channel. Nothing else.
I begrudge having to pay a tenner plus postage to Sony for a manual to give me a couple of codes, although unless someone can help me I may have to.

I have a sony SLV-SE710 recorder......The codes for the philips tv are 06 or 07 or finally 08............I know u wanted the SE720 codes but thought these might just help.

Thanks m8 :clap: Can you tell me what key(s) you need to press before you put in the 06/07/08 in. On my Sony DVD remote I just hold in the power button, but that doesn't seem to work on this remote. Thanks.
The sony manual says set tv/video at the top of the remote commander to tv.........then hold down power button and enter ur tv's code number using the programme number buttons....then release the power button.........ok hope it works
