Question:
I have a One for All 6 7562 that works fine, except that there's a weird bug that only makes the DVD fast forward and rewind at normal playback speed when I'm using it in Home Theatre mode (ie to control the DVD, surround sound, and TV), and this is annoying me enough to make me think about a replacement.
Anyone got any advice on a good buy? Ideally it needs to be fairly cheap (up to £50, say, don't need anything fancy), and a hard key model is preferred.
But is it a bug with the One For All, or a problem with the learned command transmitted by the original remote ?
If it's the latter a new remote may not help.
Take a look aty this: link (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/commerce/command/ExecMacro/ols_prod_detl.d2w/report?prrfnbr=5341898&prmenbr=6970&type=big&thisMode=ols&cgrfnbr=775419)

It seems to be a bug with the OFA.
FF and RW work fine if I just use the DVD key, but not in Home Theatre mode.
I've spent some time with OFA tech support and it seems to be due to the DVD player (a Sony) having two FF/RW speeds, which the OFA can't handle in HT mode.
Thanks for the link, Dave, it looks pretty good.
I'm tempted to get the Argos remote myself, I'm sick of all the remotes in out house :(
The problem is, I've lost the remote control for our amplifier at home, can I still teach this new remote without the need for the original one, by entering a code for example, or do you have to use the original remote to teach the new one - if that makes sense.
Just get a Pronto, you know it makes sense !
Here (http://www.consumer.philips.com/global/b2c/ce/catalog/product.jhtml?divId=0&groupId=CONVENIENCE_GR&catId=REMOTE_CONTROLS_CA&subCatId=UNIVERSAL_REMOTE_CONTROLS_SU&productId=SBCRU865_00) is the Philips web page for that Argos philips remote, where you can download the user manual as well.
Could be tempted to get that remote myself - I'll have a look at the manual and think about it tonight.
I think a Pronto would be nice but aren't they something like £150+ to buy? I'm sure that they are very good, but I don't think I can justify that kind of amount for a remote control, even if it is fantastic.
one for all mosaic ..was 250 got a shop demo one from richer sounds for 39pounds... bit of a brick but faultless ..youll wonder how u ever lived without macros..

You can program the codes in without the need for the original remote.
You could come unstuck as it may be that not all the buttons from the original remotes are covered by the codes. You will only find that out when you try to use it.
I've got this remote for my Bedroom, as I feed the signal from my Sky box through a video sender. Got a pronto for my lounge where all my ome cinema kit is.

Totally agree. I have mine and its great. I just have to spend some more time to program it and get some macros done :)
Another vote for the pronto - you'll get hell off the other half for buying it, but I could never go back now - DVD/TV/CD setup properly and all at the touch of a single button with macros, macros, more macros!
I bought a Pronto, for £99 a few months ago..
And I've never used it, seems I just bought it to be a Flash Git
After all the pro-pronto talk on here I finally decided against getting the £40 Philips remote from Argos (which wouldn't control all my kit anyway) and looked at the pronto remotes on ebay. I couldn't justify spending £150 on one (I assume the £99 ones were from Richer Sounds, where they seem to be £150 now) but I've just managed to win an auction for one at £92, which I hope is reasonable - they seem to go for £80-£120 on ebay. It seems an ok price to me.
Hopefully I'll be able to put most of my other remotes away now and get some table room back, although I may keep out one or two, like the tivo and sky one, which may be easier to use for casual tv viewing - rather than constantly holding a big pronto slab. :D
Time for some research on programming it up while I wait for it to arrive. :)

Take a look over at Remote Central (http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-pronto/list.cgi)
Thanks MikeC, I am actually looking at that site now. I've been playing with the ProntoEdit software and downloading some of the config files in that site's files area. I'm even more impressed with what this remote can do now that I've had a go with the software!
I was expecting prontoedit to be difficult to use, based on what was said in a review I read, but it doesn't seem too bad - especially if you use buttons/pages from ccf files made by other users! :D
I'm looking forward to getting this bit of kit!
I don't get on with LCD touch screens - no tactile feedack.
I recently got a MX-500 due to friend recommendations, and yes, it works much better than all my previous URCs and I've stopped using all of the others.
The Kiss DVD player was a bit of a problem to start with, but I asked around and got it to work too. (Kiss DVD uses Parity, so you have to press two buttons while in learning mode)
