Turtlebeach Audiotron
Question:

I've just been reading about the Turtle Beach Audiotron (http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/audiotron/producthome.asp) unit and quite fancy getting my hands on one. :D
However they seem damn hard to get hold of outside the US retailers. Does anybody know where such an item could be purchased from, within the UK if possible - or maybe Europe?
So far I've only located the one dealer, and they don't have a price -- Expansys (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=AUDIOTRON) - and another (http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/warehouse/details.asp?ProductID=AUDAUDIOTRON) wanting £350 for it, it's RRP is $300 !

I have been wanting to get one for ages, am personally waiting for them to come down in price a bit, luckily I already have the wiring to my hi-fi for network cable (for my ReplyTV PVR).
Sorry can't help on a supplier, but would like to hear your review if you get one.

There was an interesting review of the current model on Toms Hardware (http://www4.tomshardware.com/network/01q4/011220/index.html ) site.
i also found an interesting collection of info about the unit at http://www.pasternak.net/boris/audiotron.shtml and the forum link found on the page pointing to http://pub90.ezboard.com/bturtlebeach
I've found the Audiotron for about $260 if you're buying in the states - a much more acceptable deal I think!
The idea of using a PDA with a wireless network card to control the Audiotrons built in webserver jingles me bells! :dork:
I've emailed a couple of places to see what kinda price I'm looking to pay in the UK - will report back when I get any better info.

I readt that review in THG when it was forst posted back in 2001 (that's what made me want to get one). I personally have a top price of about $200 on one though as at the moment I don't lisent to much music where my hi-fi is and if I do my DVD Player can take MP3 CD's so I can just burn 700MB worth of MP's to CD and play them.
Also remember that you will need a voltage converter to use in the UK

There is a really simple looking mod for the built in Audiotron PSU, a full step-by-step guide is found at http://www.bens-house.org.uk/LivingRoom/AudioTron/Convert.html
Having spent the last 3 hours or so reading and hunting across the 'net for information on the Audiotron I heard that a few new models are planned for later this year. Features include a TV-Out for viewing the MP3 list etc. and some other things I can't remember now (it's late)

Execellent, new models will be good, either because they will have cool new features or will drive the price of the old one down :)
