Sony Dvp-s335 Dvd Player Problems
Question:

Someone on the forums recently replied to a post about my player which was skipping and sometimes not playing discs even if they were brand new.
The solution was to go to the set up screen by pressing ,TITLE,CLEAR and then the POWER switch.
Well now it is still doing the same thing even though they are brand new discs being placed into the machine and having tried the above option it does nothing for it any longer.
Anyone got any advice on what to do next?
Otherwise it will be a trip to Musical Images tomorrow to get a new player as this is starting to annoy me.
By the way, there is not a problem with the discs themselves as they play fine on my DVD-ROM drive.

Common problem on some x3x sonys, the drives on its way out, nothing you can do other then either have it serviced with a new drive (£50 plus vat and labour depending on the service center) or just flog it off to some secondhand shop as is and get a new one:)

It may be your laser. I had the same machine which I had repaired only for it to happen again. Dont bother repairing it and dont get them to replace it for the same model. Buy a different dvd player.

Yup, as per my earlier post, its a modular part form sony (drive assembley includes the laser) its not really worth the cost to repair considering the second hand value of the machine:(

I had the EXACT same problem with this hopeless Sony 335.
Mine lasted about 9 months before it started playing up, but it was only playing up very occasionally, then it gradually got worse (skipping sound / images, purple and green squares on screen) until finally it gave up the ghost and refused to play anything at all.
At the end when you put a disk in it just "whirred" for a couple of seconds, then stopped, t'was totally knackered.
I eventually took a hammer to it (no im not joking) :|

You would be amazed how many of these had this sort of problem, its like the old panasonic 150/350s from a few years back...
The hammer option is good for stress release though:p
