Question:
Just purchased one of these (£749) does anyonelse have one and can recommend the best picture settings ie.contrast, brightness etc.
Also although picture quality is great on dvd its not so good on ntl digital(via av1),looking a little soft with some picture noise.
Does the set need to be run in or is it a 100hz symptom, can the set be changed to 50hz via a service menu?
I've got the previous model (FX65).
Have you got NTL digital to output an RGB signal ?
JUst have a fiddle with the settings - what works in one room may be completely inappropriate for yours.
I don't think it can be changed to 50hz, althouhg some of the image processing options can be changed on one of the menus.
Yes its set to RGB ,the picture was excellent on my Hitachi 28" even via the non rgb scart input!
My Sony is not the same model but You may be able to turn off the various digital processes within the menus. You may also find the picture improves if you turn down the sharpness.

I have got all the digital nr turned off and the sharpness set to zero, also ive just tried to connect my game cube with an s-video cable to the side av input and there is no picture?
I thought Sony made decent tv`s maybe i should have stuck with Hitachi!!
If this set is like my even older KV32FX60 then it has 3 SCARTs and an S-video socket. You need to choose between AV3 being the rear SCART or the front S-Video socket in the set up menus.
Sidenote
There is a setting in the service menu on the 60 to enable the front sockets as AV4 - but I don't know if your TV has the same options. The service mode on my set is accessed by holding down two buttons on the top while turning it on - I believe they removed these on the 65, so the 66 probably doesn't have them either.
http://www.kv32tweak.freeuk.com/ may be of some use to you - be very careful in the service modes
The front sockets are already enabled as av4,the only setting i can alter is the output from av3,this can be set to OUTPUT av1,2 or 3.

There's a post there that says the UK gamecube only outputs component, RGB or composite - if it's true that would be the problem.
UK Cube doesn't do S-Video.
How can Currys sell an s-video cable for a pal cube when its clearly not going to work?!!!!
Still the cables made by a company call MADcatz so maybe that sums it up,i think ill be taking it back for a refund.
