Question:
Hi,
need a little help.
Trying to connect my Sony DVD Player (NS-DVP700 - model number I think), via a coaxial cable.
However, when I put the two together, no sound is sent to the amp. If I use an optical cable there are no problems - other than I've had to temporarily swipe the cable from my hi-fi.
Anybody know if this problem is a config issue or does it sound like the cable is kaput.
Incidentally, the amp is a Yamaha HTR-5540RDS
Thanks in advance for any assistance people.

It could be the cable, but much more likely to be that you need to do both or one of the following;
1. Change the Sony's setup to output the bitstream audio to the coaxial digi out (rather or aswell as the optical out)
2. Change the Yamaha to accept a coaxial-based digi input for the source (DVD?) that you select to hear it when connected via optical.
