Question:
i borrowed my first svcd from a friend and tried it in my multi -region RS machine and it will not play. i have firmware version 1.5. i have read through previous posts and the only problem would appear to be a lip sync one but the svcd won`t play at all .the screen saver display just breaks up into a mosaic pattern. i contacted RS and they said that the toshiba only plays vcd, is this the case? any help would be appreciated, Gordon
Interesting, I dont use VCD/SVCD any more on my 220 as I have finally progressed to creating my own DVD's, however my Father was playing about with VCD's and SVCD's on his 220 and was getting a lot of playback problems.
Firstly some Traxdata CD'Rs that he tried wouldnt even recognise in the player, and then when he found a CD'R that would, (Memorex I believe) the video started ok but then began to pixelise quite badly. This was on both VCD and SVCD so I wonder how compatible with these formats they actually are. He brought the SVCD down and tried it on my player and it did the same :-(
I've got firmware 1.5 and play (S)VCD's fine.
I wouldn't be suprised if it was due to yet another faulty Richer Sounds SD220e player.
