help now firmware (apparently) upgraded
Question:

I have upgraded my firmware (although the final step leaves the DVD player "hung" and I have to turn off at the mains to progress further).
Now, R1 DVDs load and I get picture and sound. However, there are 3 images of everything on screen.
Any ideas?

Answers:

"3 images of everything" is a classic symptom of a TV that doesn't like 60Hz video. My guess is that:
1) Your player (whatever make/model it happens to be) has a 50Hz conversion mode, so that NTSC DVDs can be viewed on older non-60Hz compatible PAL TVs.
2) You had this mode selected before you did the firmware upgrade.
3) Performing the firmware upgrade reset the player to the factory default settings, so it's now outputting 60Hz instead of 50Hz video from your R1 DVDs.
If this is the case, you need to find out how to change the mode back to what it was before. That really depends on the player you have; for example Samsung players have a "Quasi-PAL" setting which you must change to OFF to enable 50Hz conversion.

Many thanks. I'll have a look to see if I can make head or tail of it all.
