Question:
A friend of mine has sent me DVD-R from abroad and I'm unable to play them on the Pioneer dcs303, I get the message "unable to play disc". So I got my friend to send me the DVD-R recording using diferrent brands of blank DVD-R, and he has sent a Princo, Ritek & TDK discs but non of them work, but all 3 will work on the PC DVD drive.
Any idea what I can do next. Also I took the Princo recording to a shop who had a Daewoo multi-region DVD player hooked to a TV and the Princo played perfectly. The recordings are supposed to be region 0 code.
Thanks for any help anyone has to solve this problem.

make sure they are recorded in video mode:) A PC DVD-Rom will read them no matter what mode they are recorded in normally
Justin, thanks for your suggestion, all I know at the moment is that the person who did the recording used Nero software with all the latest patches. But what puzzles me is that the DVD-R works on the Daewoo player that was on demo in a shop.
I stopped using Nero for that very reason
they would play fine on a PC but not in my (and friends) players
so I always use Prassi now which I think is far better for DVD
Another point - I recently had trouble with the sticking at thw end of the discs (cheapo.s)
so as an experiment I bought some of the expensive Pioneer branded, and I could,nt believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my Pioneer A03 would,nt recognise ITS OWN BRANDED DISCS????
I now use Lynx discs - and have had 100% success with them

No probs, but it could be that the reason that the Daewoo played it, was because most "cheaper" models use a off the shelf DVD-Rom drive rather then a manufacturers own drive assembly.
HTH?
