Question:
I've always wondered this, but if a TV supports RGB why do manufacturers only wire up 1 SCART socket to support it. My TV has 2 SCART sockets yet only 1 supports RGB, my mate just spent about 1k on a new TV that has 4 (i think) SCART sockets yet only the 1st one is RGB. Why is this?? Everything these days needs RGB so why only the 1 supported socket?
When the TV repair guy recently opened up a 21" TV we had he told me that both SCARTS were connected to RGB - despite the manual (and the back of the TV) claiming that only 1 was.
If your second scart is S-VHS then it won't be RGB unless there is an option in your TV's menu to switch between RGB and S-VHS on that scart (they share some pins so can't do both at once).
Tvs seem to give more S-VHS inputs than RGB . I guess its because the initial design of the TVs were primarily for the biggest market - the USA that do not use RGB :(
You would think the European manufacturers such as Philips would design for the European market first though (and give us more than one RGB scart).
