Question:
as above using an s-video to scart cable need help workin round this one
can i get an ntsc to pal convert to put in the middle?
would appreicieate your thoughts gents? ta.
Sounds like your TV can't accept a true NTSC signal.. :(
That's the trouble with these DAV systems having no RGB as that would have circumvented the problem..
Short of getting either a new TV or a player that outputs RGB, I think you're screwed..
bugger.
can i get a converter? any way round at all???

RGB will solve this problem.

Your manual will tell you how to set the RGB out - it will be in the setup menu of the player probably.
i can set rgb even if the player doesn't have rgb connections?

You may be able to set the SCART to output as RGB
8-] - the DAV systems don't have SCART outputs, so no RGB - only s-vid or composite...

Oh well..... whoops :o I assumed that it would have a SCART like most players.
quite frankly ...bugger found a place that does converters though

How much is a converter? It's just that it might be cheaper to buy a different player.

I have the same problem annoyingly - top system except for this problem. There's no setting to change output modes and it'll only output colour on a region 1 disc via S-Video. As you say you are using an s-video cable are you sure that it's true s-video to s-video as if it is then it should be in colour?
i'm going s-video to scart at the moment i do have an s-video to s-video cable and an s-video in on the tv so I could try that.....
would that sort it?
Should do I think, could you let me know how you got on?
alrighty I will try that and let you know
Ok right think it's my telly cos even through s-video it's still black and white
my brother has one as well and it works perfectly on his telly cos it can handle the ntsc
what I have found though is a place that does converters theres one for about 40 quid i'm just umming and ahhring over parting the cash the place is local to me but you know what it's like buying blind off the net.

heres the urlin case you fancy it I will let you know how i get on but I won't be odereing it yet.
Have a look at Lektropacks (http://www.lektropacks.co.uk/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=106) - they are a reputable supplier.
I bought a converter device thing as my TV doesn't support S-Video but it didn't make a difference and the picture was still black and white. You can buy the converter off me if you want it as it's sat doing nothing - but I'm not sure how helpful it'll be. We're buying a Tosh 32ZD26 that has S-Video via Scart so hopefully it should work fine with that.
not sure it's an s-video problem unless your current tv doesn't support an s-video to scart signal?
the problem is NTSC not being converted properly to PAL i'm prob gonna get an ntsc to pal converter it will take a stable black and white picture and turn it to colour. which is kinda where i am at the moment
so my only thought is this new tv of yours (if it's a tv and not antoher dvd player) would need to be ntsc compatable as well.
