Question:
I heard that NTSC too bright colour problems might be coz of what way the DVD player was playing back the disks (PAL50, PAL60 or NTSC) so I've tried to change it using the TV SYSTEM button on my Whafedale 750 remote but it doesn't do anything! It just shows the STOP sign or the HAND...
Does anybody know what that's all about and why it doesn't work?
My borther has a cheaper DVD player than mine (Denon I think) and his changes TV system no problem... it's how I fixed the strange wobbly R1 dvd's issue on his machine...
help?
B
if my memory serves me, no disk should be in the player (or it should not be playing) when u press the tv system button - i think it tells u in the manual
Delh
okay
i've tried presing when disks are playing, not playing, on the menu - everything... I've tried a few different R1 and R2 disks but every time it just gives me the hand held up sign... ?
(i did check out the manual and the only help it gave me was that I now know the hand held up sign means that the disk is prohibiting me from doing the action - the stop sign means the player is stopping me)
why can't I change the TV system on my DVD player!?
can any wharfedale 750 owners change the TV system?
what is it doing when it plays R1 disks anyway? is PAL50, PAL60 or what?
thank you one and all

I've got the 750 gathering dust somewhere, if i get time i'll boot it up & see if i can remember how to do it. (i remember doing it, but not 100% on how)
Delh
cheers!
anyone else got a 750
and done it?

Right - sorted
This is what u do;
1) Insert disc & wait for it to go to it's menu
2) Press STOP once, so it goes to a bluish screen with a little square in the top left.
3) Press STOP again to take u back to a screen saying DVD
4) Press TV system, & hey presto the mode changes PAL NTSC AUTO, depending what u are already on. Just keep pressing TV system button until the desired mode is selected
5) Happy viewing
Delh
i shall give that a try tomorrow
it's so simple, yet so complicated... how did you figue that out?
you are a star!

i used to play around with it, so knew it was in my sub-consciousness somewhere:p

Alternatively just do it through the setup menu.

Press STOP (twice if necessary)
Press SETUP
I think the TV TYPE setting is on the first screen.
It's all in the manual.
:oh-hum:
got it
thanks guys...
my next question would be... why doesn't it do the PAL50/PAL60/NTSC thing... it just does PAL/NTSC or AUTO...
i was just getting my head around the PAL50/60 thing! anyone know why this is different? and is it better or worse?
etc etc
thanks (again)
