Sony TV probs - keeps going black and white
Question:

Its not an external connection problem, because the leads have changed when the telly was moved, and it happens on both the TV tuner (rf) input and the scart and video in inputs.
Basically, I'll be watching a program fine in colour, and all of a sudden it will flick to B&W (though teletext and the channel number icon are still in colour). Then it might flick back after a while, or stay B&W...its pretty random really, but constant.
The TV must be ~10 years old now (and 26" or 28"), and I was just wondering if anyone else had the same problems and how much it cost to get it fixed?
thanks :D

We have a B&O telly which is...very very old. Every few years it packs up due to more dry solder joints and we take it in and they find the dry joint and fix it. Costs an hours labour and worth it.
It might be you have a dry joint on the connector. Generally if things fail when they have warmed up its an electronic component failure. If they fail/recover when you thump it then its a dry joint/loose connection. If you like the telly its worth an hours labour charge to find out if its repairable and how much to fix.
Dunno if that helps. Good luck.

We've had dry joint problems with the audio on this telly before, so I guess it could be. Thumping it doesn't make much difference this time though :(
