Ive just purchased this from Richersounds, connected it to my SONY STR-DE875 amp, and im unable to get DTS/DD through the amp, its connected with a optical cable.
DTS is being outputted through the players own amp, but the recivers only giving me pro-logic?!!?
Can you help?

Answers:

Have you set the player to output bitstream, rather than PCM in it's setup menu?

Doesnt appear to work

Go to the sound setup, on the bit where it says 'DTS', select 'DTS'.
Or, go to 'quick setup' and run through your setup. It will ask you whether your player is connected to an AMP with a DTS decoder.... select 'yes'.

Ooops, sorry... didn't realise you got it to work already :p

That didnt work, it only worked when I changed the playback rate to 90Hz or what ever, works fine now :)

You need to hook the 5.1 phonos from the player to the 5.1 input on the amp..

Bap, do you also need a "SACD compatible" AMP to play SACD's, or will any AMP do? (I have the 1802)

No, the only thing you need is 5.1 inputs. Which is a pain because its 6 more cables to hide :)

another problem, the right hand side, underneath gets well hot, I mean, any hotter and I wouldnt be able to touch it, is this normal?
It does live on my amp, but ive kept it on when its not by the amp, and its the same

Answers:

Please!!,,TAKE IT OFF YOUR AMP ASP !!!!!,,,if space is a Problem,,you may put your DVD player UNDER your amp as long as your not covering any air slots on your DVD player and you use spacers,,but Never, EVER put a DVD player on top of your amp, especially like the one you have!.

Answers:

mmmm, ive kept it on, without the amp on, and its cool, and when the amp is on, without the DVD, thats cool...
With my Sammy m105, they were fine, but when this lot are together, its hot as hell...
Theres no chance of putting my DVD under it, as the amp is the size of New Mexico...
Arrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh, now what am I to do? what causes them to overheat like this?

Answers:

Another problem, the picture never seems to be clear as it did on my cheaper Sammy m105, im using a Gold scart cable so...
Also, I cant find the zoom feature?

Don't think Sony's have a zoom feature normally..

Have you enabled RGB output in the setup menu..?
And as cobefn said, it's not a good idea to keep *anything* on top of an amp..

Answers:

Yep done RGB, it looks fuzzy though...
I was thinking of placing it under the amp, but I picked the amp up, forgetting it weigts the same as 1984 Ford Escort...
No Zoom?
