Question:
And I thought I knew something about home cinema kit....but here is a basic question.
Just upgraded to a Sony DVP 700V which has an onboard decoder. Currently I have the system setup as per my last vdv player
2 x audio leads into the Yamaha 795a receiver for normal Dolby Prologic/Stereo play back
Optical cable from the DVD player to the receiver.
The question is this, would I be better using the decoder in the dvd player and using the 6 outputs and connecting them to the 6 inputs on the receiver - this would then use the dvd player as the decoder and allow Dolby digital/ DTS to be sent straight to the receiver ?
I know I could just try it but don't want to spend the cash on 6 good interconnects unless I need them.
Thanks

The DD/DTS decoder in my Sony 930 amp is far better than the one in my Sony 700.
I have it connected both ways so that I can get SACD multichannel
Yeah, I second that. Connect both ways anyway and use the amp for the decoding and the 6 outputs for the SACD, which sounds great!!!
Ok, this is beginning to make sense, I played my demo 2 SACD disks and thought ok, whats the big fuss about, this is of course without the 6 output connected to my amp.
I'll buy some decent interconnects and hopefully hear the difference on the SACD playback is like.
:norty: Always enjoy new listening challenges.....
